  3. Dare! captures a moment in time perfectly -- the moment post-punk's robotic fascination with synthesizers met a clinical Bowie-esque infatuation with fashion and modern art, including pop culture, plus a healthy love of songcraft. The Human League had shown much of this on their early singles, such as "Empire State Human," but on Dare! they simply gelled, as their style was supported by music 10/
  4. Dare, an Album by The Human League. Released 16 October on Virgin (catalog no. V; Vinyl LP). Genres: Synthpop, New Wave. 5. Dare: Deluxe Edition is a truly great deluxe edition of Human League's break through album Dare and also includes their Fascination EP. The booklet contains all the lyrics, music notes and photographs of the band at the time of the recording. I love tracks such as The Things That Dreams Are Made Of, Darkness and Open Your Heart/5(8).
  6. "Open Your Heart" is a song by the British synthpop group The Human League. It was released as a single in the UK in September and peaked at number six in the UK Singles Chart. It was written jointly by lead singer Philip Oakey and keyboard player Jo Callis. The song features a lead vocal by Oakey and female backing vocals by Susanne Sulley and Joanne Catherall, analogue synthesizers by Jo Callis.
  7. "Open Your Heart" was accompanied by a futuristic looking promotional video, a rarity at the time. Whilst it was still in the charts, Dare premiered to critical acclaim. It was also condemned by the Musicians' Union, who believed the new technology employed by the Human League was making traditional musicians redundant and a threat to their monopoly. Soon they would begin a "Keep It Live" campaign .
  8. Love and Dancing by The League Unlimited Orchestra: associated singles/EPs: Don’t You Want Me Love Action (I Believe in Love) Open Your Heart / Non‐Stop The Sound of the Crowd: included in: Dare .
